Hey Heroes! On the latest episode of Hero’s Journey, I talked to Derek Engemann, member of the metal supergroup Scour.

Scour is a metal supergroup formed in 2015, featuring vocalist Philip H. Anselmo (from Pantera and DOWN) alongside John Jarvis (Agoraphobic Nosebleed), Derek Engemann (Philip H. Anselmo and The Illegals), Mark Kloeppel (Misery Index), and Adam Jarvis (Pig Destroyer and Lock Up). Blending elements of black metal, grindcore, and thrash, the band has released three EPs showcasing their intense, uncompromising sound. With their upcoming album “Gold” coming out in 2 days (2/21) via Nuclear Blast Records, Scour continues to push the boundaries of extreme music with relentless energy and brutality.

In the episode, we talked about the band's upcoming debut album "Gold," assembling metal music legends like Phil Anselmo and John Jarvis for the band, getting Jason Momoa to do vocals on a song, deciding which singles to release, the evolving meaning of their song "Tear Gas," and more!
